Dehradun: CM Harish Rawat on Saturday launched the much-awaited mobile app “Uttarakhand Police Mobile App” aimed at reducing public inconvenience in accessing police services and to reach out to them at the time of distress.
The concept behind the app was to create a single platform for the convenience of the public. Through this app, information like Tenant and servant verification, Crime Reporting, Information about wanted criminals can be obtained with a single click. One can also enroll for community policing by submitting lost and found articles and can get status reports on information furnished and it provides categories of various aspects of violations like crime against women, eve teasing, stalking, cyber stalking, traffic violations, happening crime and many more. The mobile app is currently available only for Android users via Google Play and will act as an umbrella for the Uttarakhand police services.
Police Chief DG B.S Sindhu presented the mobile app mementos to the Chief Guest CM Uttarakhand Harish Rawat and Home Minster Mr. Pritam Singh on this occasion. “This app will facilitate access to all services provided by Uttarakhand Police with just one touch. Our endeavor has been to identify one such area for the public is how to reach police in various situations,” said DG BS Sindhu
During the launch event of the app IG Garhwal Range Sanjay Gunjiyal in his presentation said “It is a user-friendly mobile app. With this app it is not just to make it easier to send a complaint, but rather, to bring transparency to the process of responding to complaints, so citizens can see whether any action has been taken or not. There are already 3557 registered users of the app which is increasing with the each passing day. Total no. of online verification requests done by the app up till now is 11,007.Lost & found articles requests reached the figure of 83 & 50 respectively. With the help of this app 13 crime reporting requests has been registered by far”
“One of the most advanced features of the App is ALERT POLICE which is to be used only when there is a threat to Life and Limb. One can access the police help in the case of emergency. The user can send an alert by pressing the power button/soft button. As soon as the distress button is pressed, it will trigger a 30-second audio and video recording on the phone which will be relayed to the Police Control Room and the victim will get a call back from the mobile help desk, All the details of the victim, including her location, time will be there in the SMS which will also be transmitted simultaneously by the Mobile app help desk in the area id” Further added IG Garhwal Sanjay Gunjiyal.
As part of ensuring security of women in the Uttarakhand the Women Helpline feature in the app will certainly give a new sense of security to the women of Uttarakhand by connecting directly with police in emergency.
Home Minister Mr. Pritam Singh congratulated the Uttarakhand Police for the wonderful effort. He further added by saying “This app is a Diwali gift to public of Uttarakhand. It is a multiple utility featured app aimed to empower the citizens of Uttarakhand.”
Chief Guest CM Harish Rawat in his speech lauded the Uttarakhand Police’s efforts to use technology for better policing and said “Such initiatives are a great idea and could make a real difference, but it requires the active participation of government bodies over a long period of time to be truly useful – which is something that Uttarakhand Police is working hard to build”
Developers Company’s Director Mr. Akash Sharma WT IT solutions-Developer of the mobile app said that “After the successful trial of the app from the past one year we feel really happy to launch the app officially .By this app the accessibility of police services and their accountability to the public grievances is made easier and bridge is maintained in making a better and safe Uttarakhand.”
The Launch was attended by various government dignitaries and police officials included ADG l/o Mr. Anil Raturi, ADG Admin Mr. Ram Singh Meena , ADG Mr. Ashok Kumar Intelligence & security , IG P.A.S Mr. Amit Sinha and other police officials from Police headquarters.
